The aberdeen.org.za website currently offers the following services on the accommodation and
business pages to resident business owners of the town :
Listing
This is the basic entry on the site and is free. A listing comprises a 60 - 80 word description of your service or business. It may contain a
physical address, a suitable image or logo [100 pixels (w) x 80 pixels (h)] and contact name but no other contact details.

Linking
This is an option for people who already have a website hosted elsewhere. A linking entry comprises a 70 - 90 word description of your service or business,
a suitable image or logo [120 pixels (w) x 90 pixels (h)], a physical address, contact name, telephone number, email address and the link to your website.
Cost per Entry : R2.00 per month with a minimum period of 12 months: R24.00 per annum.

Hosting
The hosting option is for people who wish to host a new webpage or website on the aberdeen.org.za server, as well as for those who already have a
website hosted elsewhere (page type "websites" on general tourism servers) and wish to move it to our servers (if you have your own domain, this would
not apply to you). A hosted entry comprises
a 80 - 100 word description of your service or business, a suitable image or logo [140 pixels (w) x 100 pixels (h)], a physical address, contact name, telephone
number, email address and the link to your website/webpage. Additional functionality will be available shortly, including form-to-mail. If you already have an
established website on your own personal domain, it is recommneded that you just link to it from this site (see above).
Cost per Entry : R15.00 per month with a minimum period of 12 months: R180.00 per annum.

All of these categories are further listed in alphabetical order commencing with "A"
We are aware of the 'inherent unfairness' of the alphabetical listing system within the categories. However it has been proven that it makes little
difference as to where your entry appears on the listing. Entries near the top of the page are not always advantageous as visitors often start scrolling
down the page before it has fully loaded. The aberdeen.org.za website is fully indexed by the internet search engines and this process
is continually monitored. Discerning visitors will be drawn to our site, the listings and to you websites or webpages if present.
Email Addresses
Please note (and rest reasonably assured) that all email addresses displayed on the pages of the aberdeen.org.za website undergo low level encryption in order to
'hide' them from "spambots", "crawlers", etc. who trawl the internet for email addresses. Email spambots collect these email addresses
from the Internet in order to build mailing lists for sending unsolicited email, also known as spam (junk mail). Such spambots are web crawlers that can gather email
addresses from websites, newsgroups, special-interest group (SIG) postings, and chat-room conversations. Because email addresses have a distinctive format,
spambots are easy to write. There is no foolproof method these days to avoid spam (junk) mail as the easiest way for the perpetrators to obtain them is from the
address books of personal computers that have been infected by viruses. our site makes it difficult and implements updated methodologies regularly to try and stay
ahead of the 'bad guys'.
Website Development
Development costs for new hosted web pages or even websites are dependent on the extent and design requirements of the final web pages. The development costs for
a simple, single page 'website' - with a title (logo), copy (text), a number of images (extremely important as the interenet is a graphical environment) and
contact details - may commmence at ±R150,00. Please email the

with any requirements you may have.
Important Request
In light of the fact that this website has recently undergone a total rebuild
and development is still underway, together with the fact that this is the first
time that listings have been created, please let the webmaster know if your
entry is incorrect or if your business is missing. This is the website for the
town and its people - please be proactive and let us have your details.
